A hard-hitting show about the realities of life for many young people, Streets presents a gritty take on musical theatre, exploring difficult topics from drink and drug use to domestic abuse. The music is original, with hints of Spring Awakening, Les Mis and Rent, while the cast vary in age from 18 to 30, with the majority under the age of 25.
The show, which premiered in Scotland last year, is currently staging a limited Fringe run at the Surgeons' Hall, to a strong critical and audience response.
Streets was written, directed, and produced by 19 year-old Scottish musical theatre prodigy Finn Anderson, who also performs in the production. FestivalJournal caught up with him and the rest of the cast to talk about the show currently taking the Fringe by storm...
